My work is influenced by Bengali rhythms and traditions. I drawmy inspiration from the Persian art, Mughal miniature paintings, Bengal and Neo Bengal School of art, folk art and religious designs (commonly known as “Alpona” in Bengal, made with rice paste) intrinsically reflecting upon a typical rural and urban livelihood, the contours of time dictated by simple, daily chores in an unhurried fashion. My painting breathes of a woman’s world.

Irecreatemy imagination on a medium of water colour on handmade paper predominant with colours such as sepia, blue, brown and grey, keeping a subdued palette, which lends a sublime tranquillity to my art. I attempt to evoke through my paintings a transient world of peace and bliss steeped in the rites and rituals of tradition.Watercolours in my paintings are immersed in lyrical folksy beauty, portray the exquisite rhythms of everyday life in its towns, cities, and villages - boys spinning tops, a woman with kittens, and a young parrot seller, a small body of water, on the outskirts with palm trees and Lotus.

My painting is part of the archival collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
